On the eve of Independence Day, we’re building a new bond “across the pond” with an organization whose belief in design as a driver for business growth pairs perfectly with our own. AKA, we are making our kindred-spirit relationship “official” with the Design Business Association, and it means the world to us.
Beardwood is proud to become the first "homegrown" U.S. member of the DBA. For 20+ years, we've built an independent agency with a center of gravity in New York City, partnering with brands that know incremental change won’t cut it, and helping them achieve real business results.
The DBA was founded to champion design's economic and strategic potential and build a collective voice for the community. They provide robust resources, including training programs, members’ forums, and mentorship.
Earlier this year, we were honored to win a DBA Design Effectiveness Silver Award for our work with Posman Books. The DBA's Design Effectiveness Awards are judged on proven business impact: revenue growth, market performance, and the measurable difference design made to the bottom line. Winning on those terms matters to us because it reflects exactly how we measure our own success. Our work with Posman helped grow the business from a beloved indie NYC bookseller to the fourth largest bookstore chain in the U.S., with 311% revenue growth over eight years.
Like the DBA, we believe that brave brand ideas, backed by real proof, is what separates work that moves culture from work that merely follows it. We're proud to be the DBA's first homegrown U.S. member. Here's what design business effectiveness looks like at Beardwood:
• Yankee Candle landed in the top 5% of CPG branding refreshes out of 2,400 redesigns tested by Designalytics — with purchase conversion jumping 22.8 points, immediately halting years of declining sales.
• Corona Sunbrew launched as the #1 new item in the entire beer category and the #6 share gainer — with two-thirds of buyers new to Corona entirely.
• For Pottery Barn, we trained 600+ employees on the new brand positioning at launch. Over seven years, that repositioning added $700 million in revenue.
We're proud to help the DBA and expand the friendship circle, and here's to more brave work that helps brands and businesses grow.Learn more about how we drive business effectiveness through strategy and design at Beardwood.
