Our co-CEO Sarah Williams weighs in on The Dieline alongside other agency leaders in this article about the growing trend of toxic teardowns of redesigns in the design industry.
Sarah spoke with The Dieline about the growing trend of hot takes and lobbing bombs, and culture and content cycle, where designers devalue the worth of their own work. “Change is hard. The bigger the brand, the harder the change. The brands we choose say who we are, designer or not: what we value, what we belong to. Our world runs on a content vacuum that needs filling. A podcast take. A floating head on Instagram. A "that's the whole move" post. Public critique of a brand is really a commentary on us and our relationship to it. It's less about the logo and more about our need to fill the silence.”Sarah believes real dialogue in community matters more than everm through supporting organizations like AIGA NY or wherever designers actually gather. Lose that community, lose the context, and the work becomes a meme.
