Nice post Katie. Sperry is a rare brand that manages to be popular across the age and gender spectrum. They offer a great case study in creating brand relevancy. Nice shoes too!

Great post and interesting tale of caution. I remember lots of articles being written in the early 2000's about the meteoric rise of Hush Puppies. The follow-up articles a few years later pointed out that they rode the trend and then didn't innovate styles beyond the initial re-launch. Sperry has avoided this by partnering with fashion designers to keep fresh and keep the product on trend.

That would be amazing and its a sustainable concept requiring no added power. There could be some really amazing designs. I think a little sunlight in the tunnels might remind commuters to not act like animals!

Some categories just feel like they're cheating when they come to design. Olives and olive oil are clearly cheats and cheaters.
If we had an awesome case history to show in this category, I may well feel differently.

Love 'em. I've seen several people snapping the whale poster in the Canal St, station since that grand doodle went up. Made me feel proud of the NY subway riding audience.

Hey Sadie:
I'm not happy about it, but what keeps me up at night is the most interesting piece of my week. Ugh, the most productive piece of the day is around 5-6am.

Nice. These are much more creative (and g-rated) than I would have expected. Most platform ads go out of their way to obliterate white space so that there is no opportunity for "artistic additions."

I hope this pays off for them. I'll snap photos if I see any new ones.

Good advice Sadie, I like the idea of a sleep game to ward off chatty thoughts. Its a bit like having a mantra in meditation that quiets the mind. Whiskey works well too.
